KATHMANDU: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Kamikawa Yoko, concluded her brief yet significant official visit to Nepal last night, marking her inaugural trip to the country since assuming her role as Japan's foreign minister. Upon her departure, she was bid farewell by Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal at the VVIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport.
During her visit, Foreign Minister Kamikawa was warmly received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, who hosted a dinner in her honor. Throughout the day, Kamikawa engaged in diplomatic discussions, meeting with President Ramchandra Poudel at Sheetal Niwas and holding talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at Singha Durbar.
In addition to official engagements, Kamikawa also had the opportunity to explore some cultural landmarks of Nepal. She visited the historical Hanuman Dhoka palace square, immersing herself in the rich heritage of the country. Furthermore, she indulged her interest in Nepali literature by purchasing some Nepali books at Mandala Book Point in Jamal, showcasing her appreciation for the nation's cultural and literary offerings.
