KATHMANDU: A team from India's National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has begun assisting with the search for two passenger buses and their passengers swept away by a landslide on the Narayangadh-Muglin road. Chief District Officer Indradev Yadav confirmed that the 12-member team started the search this morning.
On July 12, two passenger buses were swept into the Trishuli River below Simaltal while traveling on the Narayangadh-Muglin road. Three of the 65 passengers on board survived, with the remaining 62 missing. To date, the bodies of 25 passengers have been found at various sites along the river.
The NDRF team was requested by the Nepali government due to a lack of modern search equipment necessary for operating in the flooded river. The condition of the remaining 37 passengers and the two buses is still unknown.
