KATHMANDU: Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar concluded his two-day state visit to Nepal and departed on Wednesday afternoon. His departure was bid farewell by top Nepalese officials including President Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice President Ram Shaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The visit, initiated at the invitation of President Ram Chandra Paudel, saw significant diplomatic engagements and the signing of eight bilateral agreements between Qatar and Nepal. Emir Al Thani held crucial meetings with President Paudel and Prime Minister Dahal, emphasizing the commitment to strengthen bilateral relations.
Essential agreements included deals between Nepal and Qatar News Agency, as well as agreements between the Office of the Attorney General and the Institute of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, agreements facilitating educational and cultural exchanges were signed, along with two agreements between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
Emir Al Thani's visit signifies a landmark moment, marking the strengthening of ties between Nepal and Qatar. It also marks the first high-level delegation from Gulf nations to Nepal. The discussions and agreements reached during the visit are expected to further enhance cooperation and friendship between the two countries.
