KATHMANDU: Today, four parliamentary committees are scheduled to convene meetings to address various pressing issues. At 11 AM, the Federalism Strengthening and National Concern Committee will focus on reviewing the Ministry of Home Affairs' efforts in disaster risk reduction, response, and recovery. Discussions will center on future plans for disaster risk reduction, national disaster risk management strategies, and the role of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.
Simultaneously, the Women and Social Affairs Committee will also assemble at 11 AM to discuss Nepal's laws concerning senior citizens, state provisions for the elderly, and the challenges posed by the growing aging population. Additionally, the committee will examine the status of old age homes and senior citizens service and meeting centers to assess the adequacy of existing support systems for elderly citizens.
Later in the day, at 1 PM, the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee will engage in a pre-budget discussion for the fiscal year 2024/25. This session will provide an opportunity for committee members to deliberate on key economic priorities and governance measures to be included in the upcoming budgetary allocations.
