NEPSE index jumps 3.02%, turnover goes up to Rs 14.1 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recorded a noteworthy increase on Tuesday, closing at 2,563.43 points, or 3.02%, up 75.33 points. Both the sensitivity index (up 2.31%) and the float index (up 3.02%) showed this increase. A slight increase over Monday's turnover of Rs 13.9 billion was seen in the day's trading volume of Rs 14.1 billion, with 39,790,889 shares of 317 companies exchanged in 171,387 transactions.


Gains were seen in every market segment, and sentiment was generally positive. The trade sector rose at the fastest rate, at 5.06%, while the life insurance business increased at a rate of 4.45%. The non-life insurance sector expanded by 4.37%, while the hydropower business rose by 3.97%. The manufacturing and processing, hotel and tourism, and investment sectors all had growth of 3.14%, 3.77%, and 3.87%, in that order.


Regarding individual equities, the share values of 220 firms increased, 19 suffered a fall, and three stayed the same. Notably, the share values of five businesses had increases of 10%: Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited, Samriddhi Finance Company Limited, Mandu Hydropower Company Limited, Hathway Investment Nepal Limited, and Nepal Warehousing Company Limited.


The overall market value reached Rs 4.067 trillion, reflecting the stock market's strong performance on Tuesday.
