KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 53.63 points, or 1.95%, on Sunday, closing at 2,695.93. The market's daily turnover also fell, with transactions totaling Rs 10.5 billion for 26,246,435 shares across 337 companies. This was down from Thursday's turnover of Rs 12 billion.
The float index and sensitivity index both decreased, by 2.05% and 1.81%, respectively, in addition to the benchmark index. The only industry not to exhibit a decline was the mutual fund industry, which increased by just 0.80%. Every other industry saw a decrease, with the financial industry reporting the biggest dip at 3.44%. Other industries that saw declines were hotels and tourism (2.98%), hydropower (2.40%), banking (2.34%), microfinance (1.88%), and development banks (1.85%).
Out of the 244 stocks traded, 209 companies saw their values drop, 31 experienced gains, and four remained unchanged. Notable movements included a 10% loss for Peoples Hydropower Company Limited (PHCL) and Mai Khola Hydropower Limited (MKHL), while Super Mai Hydropower Limited (SMH) saw a 10% gain. The total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 4.281 trillion.
