KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) broke beyond the 3,000-point barrier on Thursday, rising 43.05 points, or 1.45%, to end the day at 3,000.81 points. The daily turnover of the market increased significantly, reaching Rs 29.9 billion with the trading of 68,980,346 shares across 334 businesses in 311,536 transactions. There was a discernible rise in turnover from Wednesday's Rs 23 billion.
105 companies had increases in their stock values, 137 saw reductions, and one saw no change in value. Three prominent gainers had a 10% increase in their share values: Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL), Rastriya Beema Company Limited (RBCL), and Modi Energy Limited (MEL). Conversely, Nepal Finance Limited (NFC) had a 10% decrease.
The class 'A' equity sensitivity index increased by 3.08%, while the float index, which measures shares that are regularly traded, increased by 1.98%. The five industries that suffered losses were manufacturing and processing (-1.73%), life insurance (-0.73%), microfinance (-0.13%), finance (-3.05%), and others (-2.30%). However, there had been a growth in seven sectors. The banking industry led the way with 5.65%, followed by the mutual fund and investment industries with 2.28% and 2.69%, respectively.
