KATHMANDU: The Commission of Inquiry, charged with resolving the tariff dispute concerning dedicated and trunk lines, has officially submitted its report to the government. Commission Chairman Girish Chandra Lal presented the report to Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet on Sunday.
Highlighting the report's significance in achieving a sustainable resolution to the dedicated and trunk line tariff issues, the Commission emphasized that it was meticulously crafted over a period of three months and ten days. The report, it noted, was the result of extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders and agency personnel.
The comprehensive report includes thorough analyses of various legal aspects, regulations, procedures, and opinions from all concerned parties. It also features recommendations aimed at addressing the trunk line tariff dispute effectively. However, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources has not disclosed the specific findings and conclusions of the report to the public.
During the Commission's investigation, which spanned multiple periods between 2015 and 2020, concerns were raised regarding non-payment of tariffs by certain industrialists, leading to power disconnections for some industries. In response, industry representatives, including the President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, appealed to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, urging him to intervene and prevent disruptions to power supply for industrial operations.
