KATHMANDU: Starting today, the Ridi-Tamghas road section in Gulmi will be inaccessible for a month, as announced by the District Administration Office (DAO). Travelers are advised to seek alternative routes during this period, as the closure will be in effect from 10AM to 4PM and from 10PM to 4AM starting April 29 until May 30. This decision has been made to facilitate rock excavation and grade adjustments along specific segments of the road.
The ongoing efforts to upgrade the 25 km stretch from Ridi to Baletaksar as part of the Madan Bhandari Highway project involve various activities, including road paving and widening. Specifically, the primary road leading to Tamghas, the district headquarters of Gulmi, will be widened to a width of 7.75 meters. This expansion aims to address the narrowness and deteriorating condition of the road.
To accommodate these construction activities, a previous month-long closure was implemented in March for road widening purposes. The contract for road upgrading and black-topping was signed on March 12, 2023, with the anticipated completion date set for March 9, 2026. These measures are part of ongoing initiatives to improve transportation infrastructure and enhance connectivity in the region.
