Man swept away by Seti River while gathering firewood in Tanahu

KATHMANDU: In a tragic incident this morning in Byas municipality-1 of Tanahu district, Tal Bahadur Thapa, aged 55, was swept away by the Seti River while gathering firewood. According to the District Police Office in Tanahu, Thapa was near the river collecting wood when he was overwhelmed by the current. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Raya confirmed that efforts to locate Thapa are currently underway.


Locals frequently take wood from riverbanks for fuel. However, it has substantial hazards, as seen in Thapa's unfortunate event. Meanwhile, the Prithvi Highway, which was closed by a landslide, reopened for one-way traffic this morning.
