KATHMANDU: Eleven households from Chyaupani in Bheri municipality-1, Jajarkot, have been relocated to safer locations due to the heightened risk of landslides following an earthquake on November 3, 2023. The earthquake, centered in Ramidanda of Jajarkot, had rendered the settlement vulnerable to landslides. With assistance from the District Police Office in Jajarkot, the families facing the highest risk were promptly relocated to ensure their safety.

Assistant Inspector of Police, Bir Bahadur Thapa, reported that six families were resettled in Medegaon, while others found refuge with their relatives. Meanwhile, landslides along the Lumbini-Rara Highway have brought vehicular movement to a standstill for four days, prompting local concerns about the lack of initiatives to clear the blocked road.

The earthquake's impact has necessitated swift actions to mitigate risks in vulnerable areas, underscoring ongoing challenges in managing post-disaster situations effectively.
