Bodies of 3 Nepali landslide victims returned to Chitwan from Uttarakhand

KATHMANDU: The bodies of three Nepali youths who died in a landslide in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand, India, have been returned to their homes in Chitwan. The bodies were transported from India via the Gaddachauki border point after post-mortem procedures were completed on Friday. The return was facilitated by an ambulance that arrived in Madi Municipality on Saturday night.


The landslide, which occurred on Thursday night in Phata, affected the road between Badrinath and Kedarnath. The deceased have been identified as Tul Bahadur Damai (58), Krishna Bahadur Pariyar (26), and Purna Bahadur Nepali (28), all from Madi Municipality in Chitwan. Another victim, Deepak Buda from Dailekh, also perished in the incident. The landslide occurred while they were asleep.


Mayor Tara Kumari Kaji Mahato of Madi Municipality has visited the grieving families and committed to organizing a meeting of municipal executives to discuss and implement relief measures for the affected families.
