2 separate incidents claim lives of children in Jhapa and Udayapur

KATHMANDU: In recent tragic incidents, a three-year-old boy drowned in Sano Maikhola of Jhapa Rural Municipality-2. The child, identified as the son of Rahman Alam Miya, drowned while playing in the river on Tuesday afternoon. Despite efforts, he passed away while receiving treatment at Kankai Hospital in Surunga.


Similarly, in Khambu Toribari of Triyuga Municipality-15 in Udayapur, an eight-year-old girl lost her life in a landslide on Tuesday morning. The landslide engulfed her house, resulting in her death. Her mother, Hira Kumari Magar, aged 30, sustained injuries during the incident.


According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajan Chapagain, there are now 15–16 residences in the region that are under danger. Moves to safer areas for residents who are at risk are in progress. Around seven in the morning, the event was reported to the authorities, and the girl's body is currently being sent to Gaighat for a postmortem examination.
