KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is gearing up to celebrate its victory in Ilam following Suhang Nembang's triumph in the Ilam-2 by-election. The celebration is slated to commence at 1 pm today, featuring addresses from Chairman KP Sharma Oli and other prominent party figures.

Suhang Nembang, representing CPN-UML, secured a decisive win in the by-election for the House of Representatives seat in Ilam Constituency No. 2. He clinched victory by a substantial margin of 5,830 votes over his closest competitor, Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Khadka.

Nembang emerged victorious with a commanding total of 27,772 votes, while Dambar Khadka, representing the Nepali Congress, received 21,942 votes. This significant win underscores the enduring political influence of the Nemwang family, with Suhang following in the footsteps of his father, Subash Nemwang, who previously held the Ilam 2 seat in the House of Representatives.

The by-election, held on April 27, was called to fill the vacant seat left following the passing of Subash Nemwang last year. The CPN-UML's success in the election highlights its continued popularity and support in the Ilam region.
