KATHMANDU: KP Oli, the Chairman of CPN-UML, stood firmly in support of Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane amidst growing pressure from the Nepali Congress for a parliamentary inquiry. In a UML parliamentary party meeting on Friday, Oli dismissed calls for Lamichhane's resignation and opposed the idea of establishing a parliamentary committee initiated by opposition parties.

Oli criticized the opposition, particularly the Nepali Congress, for persistently advocating for a committee to investigate Lamichhane. He asserted that the Nepali Congress would immediately demand Lamichhane's resignation once the investigation committee is formed. Oli also underscored the need for any inquiry to be impartial and inclusive of all relevant parties.

Regarding concerns about potential bias in the investigations, Oli stressed the importance of ensuring that the inquiry addresses all aspects of the matter. He questioned the focus of the investigation, particularly concerning cooperatives, and challenged whether there were genuine financial crises or losses incurred by investors. Oli emphasized the government's duty to proactively address such issues.
