Bus accident in Washuk, Balochistan claims 28 lives, injures dozens

KATHMANDU: At least 28 individuals have tragically lost their lives, with at least 20 sustaining injuries, following a devastating accident in Washuk, Balochistan on Wednesday. Basima Assistant Commissioner Ismail Mengal reported that the incident occurred when a tire on the bus burst, causing it to plummet into a ravine. Among the deceased are women and children, while some of the injured remain in critical condition, raising concerns about a potential increase in the death toll.

The bodies of the deceased and the injured were promptly transported to Basima Civil Hospital, where tragically, an additional 22 individuals succumbed to their injuries. AC Mengal stated that the bus was en route from Turbat to Quetta during the night when the accident transpired around 4 am. Due to the absence of mobile network coverage at the accident site and the lack of nearby population, there was a delay in Levies officials receiving information. Nevertheless, rescue personnel promptly arrived at the scene upon notification.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed profound sadness and condolences for the lives lost in the tragic accident. He directed authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical care for the injured, expressing hopes for their swift recovery.
