KATHMANDU: The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has issued a 15-day ultimatum to United Telecommunication Limited, instructing them to resolve outstanding arrears amounting to Rs 7.42 billion. In a public notice released recently, the NTA directed United to settle the due payment in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in the basic telephony service license.
As per the NTA, United Telecom has yet to clear an installment totaling Rs 7,429,337,337, which includes fees for license renewal, frequency, royalties, and contributions to the Rural Telecommunication Development Fund, among other charges. The notice explicitly states that United is required to settle these dues within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice, as per the terms specified in the license renewal process.
Furthermore, the NTA cautioned that failure to meet the specified deadline for clearing the outstanding amount could result in the revocation of the license under the provisions of the Telecommunications Act, 2053 BS. This ultimatum underscores the regulatory authority's commitment to ensuring compliance and financial accountability within the telecommunications sector.
