KATHMANDU: With a noteworthy surge of 40.76 points, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a significant rise, to close at 2,796.38 points on Monday. Within the first three minutes, the index rose swiftly from 2,755.62 points at opening to 2,794.25 points. The index ended the trading session at 2,806.69 points, having fluctuated between 2,770 and 2,806.69 points. The index then closed the day with a little decline.
The 'A' class companies tracked by the sensitive index experienced a slight decrease of 0.97 points. From Rs 21.71 billion on Thursday to Rs 21.86 billion today, there was a minor increase in daily turnover. Hotels and tourism witnessed the biggest increase among the sectors, adding 488.31 points to their index, while finance saw the most decrease, dropping 164.71 points.
Out of the 241 companies traded, 163 experienced gains and 78 saw losses. Himalayan Reinsurance Limited led in turnover with shares worth Rs 1.26 billion. Several companies, including Ru Ru Jalbidhyut Pariyojana Limited and CEDB Hydropower Development Company, saw their market values increase by up to 10 percent, while Nepal Finance Ltd was the largest loser.
