KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) had a 34.29 point, or 1.17%, increase as it closed at 2,957.75 points on Wednesday. From Rs 21.5 billion the day before to Rs 23.4 billion during the day's trade, turnover grew. This volume was attained by 244,019 transactions involving the exchange of 51,230,340 shares across 332 businesses.
Sector performance varied, with the Finance sector leading the gains with a notable increase of 7.67%. Significant increases were also seen in the development banks (3.07%), investment (2.49%), and hotels and tourism (2.37%) sectors. Conversely, there were losses in life insurance (-0.10%), microfinance (-0.70%), and mutual funds (-0.90%).
Out of the individual stocks, the valuations of 156 firms increased, 79 decreased, and 8 stayed the same. Notable changes included Mandakini Hydropower Limited losing 10% and nine companies gaining 10%. The exchange had a total market capitalization of Rs 4.697 trillion.
