KATHMANDU: The Kailali border crossing will undergo a temporary closure starting from this evening due to the Lok Sabha elections in India. Shiva Raj Joshi, Administrative Officer at the District Administration Office, Kailali, confirmed that the closure will commence at 6 PM on Friday. This measure is being implemented in light of the elections scheduled for May 13 in the Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh, India.
According to Joshi, the border crossing will remain shut until the voting process concludes. It's a standard procedure for border crossings to be closed 72 hours before elections in both Nepal and India. This closure aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process and maintain security during this period of heightened political activity.
