Fire in Lalitpur claims lives of 2 girls, leaves others in critical condition

KATHMANDU: Two girls who sustained critical injuries in a hut fire that occurred in Gwarko, Lalitpur Metropolitan City-17, on Sunday have tragically passed away. Priya Giri, aged eight, and Elisa Giri, aged three, succumbed to their burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Kist Hospital in Lalitpur on Monday evening, according to Lalitpur District Police Range Superintendent of Police and spokesperson Naresh Raj Subedi.

The fire, which affected a family of five, resulted in the critical condition of two others. Sanjay Giri, aged 35, is currently receiving treatment while being kept on a ventilator, while his spouse Rupa Giri, aged 32, is in critical condition and is receiving support in the ICU.

While the condition of other patients remains stable, they are receiving treatment in the general ward of the hospital. The tragic incident has brought immense sorrow to the community, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely as the family deals with this devastating loss and supports those still battling critical injuries.
