KATHMANDU: An elderly couple tragically perished in a devastating fire that engulfed their home in Ghattekhola, Purandanda, of Dhading.

According to Superintendent of Police Gautam KC, 70-year-old Tej Bahadur Lama and his wife Thuli Lama were unable to escape the flames and lost their lives in the blaze that ravaged their residence last night.

After receiving the report of the fire around 11:30 pm, a rapid response team from Hapsechaur Temporary Police Station and Area Police Office Khanikhola quickly mobilized to the scene. However, they arrived to find the couple already consumed by the flames.

Investigations by the police revealed that the fire, sparked by an electrical short circuit in the stone-and-clay house, not only claimed the lives of the Lamas but also destroyed their belongings, including food stores, garments, and a corn grinding mill, reducing everything to ashes.
