KATHMANDU: Ambassador Jan Thesleff of Sweden to Nepal is scheduled to visit Kathmandu from May 14 to 17, accompanied by representatives from Swedish businesses and officials from the Swedish Energy Agency.
During his stay, Ambassador Thesleff will engage in the second edition of the EU-Nepal Business Forum, which is set to take place on May 15-16. Additionally, he plans to hold meetings with various ministers, including Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha.
Among the companies represented in the business delegation are Hexagon, Hitachi Energy, and Saab. The visit aims to bolster trade relations between Sweden and Nepal while exploring potential business opportunities between companies from both nations.
Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Sweden and Nepal in June 1960, bilateral relations have evolved into a robust partnership built on mutual respect, understanding, and friendship over the years. The Swedish Embassy in New Delhi highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, particularly on climate change and matters pertaining to Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.
Ambassador Thesleff emphasized Sweden's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Nepal, particularly in the areas of climate action and advancing sustainable development goals. He expressed optimism about enhancing trade ties and fostering collaboration between Swedish and Nepalese companies through participation in the EU-Nepal Business Forum.
