NEPSE witnesses drop of by 17.4 points on first trading day of the month

KATHMANDU: On Sunday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a decline, marking the first trading day of the month with a downward trend. The stock market index saw a decrease of 17.4 points, closing at 2,095, reflecting a decline of 0.80% for the day. Similarly, the Sensitive Index, which monitors the trading of 'A' category companies, also witnessed a drop, declining by 3.25 points.

Trading activities throughout the day were active, with a total of 71,997 transactions involving 317 companies taking place. In terms of volume, a total of 13.22 million shares were traded. The cumulative turnover for the day reached Rs 5.47 billion.

Despite the overall decline, share prices increased for 47 companies, indicating some resilience within the market. However, a larger number of companies, totaling 177, experienced a decrease in their share prices.

Among the companies with notable trading volumes, Nepal Finance stood out with shares worth Rs 304 million changing hands. Following closely behind were NRN and Ngadi Group Power, with trading values of Rs 181.9 million and Rs 152.5 million, respectively. These figures reflect the diverse trading activities and investor interests observed during the trading session.
