KATHMANDU: The Bagmati Province Government has presented a budget of Rs 64.54 billion for the fiscal year 2024/025. Economic Affairs and Planning Minister Jagannath Thapaliya unveiled the budget during a province assembly meeting on Saturday, allocating Rs 26.1 billion for current expenditure and Rs 36.93 billion for capital expenditure. This budget marks an increase of Rs 1.83 billion compared to the current fiscal year.
Minister Thapaliya emphasized fiscal management by allocating Rs 1.5 billion for this purpose, representing 2.32 percent of the total budget. The allocation for current expenditure accounts for 40.44 percent, while 55.23 percent is earmarked for capital expenditure.
Education, healthcare, agriculture, and tourism are identified as priority sectors in the upcoming fiscal year's budget. Additionally, the province government has declared the upcoming year as the 'Skill Year', signaling a focus on skill development initiatives and programs.
