KATHMANDU: Over the past 24 days, a total of 27 individuals have tragically lost their lives due to various incidents involving fire, wildfires, and lightning strikes, as reported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

Among the reported fatalities, 18 individuals lost their lives in incidents directly related to fires, while six perished in wildfires, and three were victims of lightning strikes. Additionally, the Authority noted that 90 individuals sustained injuries during these distressing events.

In response to the significant loss of life and the widespread devastation caused by these incidents, the Authority has taken steps to provide financial aid to the families of fire victims. This assistance, traditionally reserved for earthquake victims, has now been extended to those affected by fire-related tragedies, highlighting an important expansion in support services aimed at providing relief to affected communities.
